In the south direction of Bhuj, Kera is situated about 20 kilometers on the way to Mundra and on the banks of the river Nagmati. Because of the seat of Kapil Muni, Kera is also known as Kapilgram.Lakha Fulani distributed the estates of Khinara and Angorgadh among his six brothers. He himself settled in Kapilgram. He built a fort here which was later become famous as ‘Kapilkot’, ‘Keraikot’ or ‘Kerakot’. In this fort, he renovated the Shivalaya of Lakheshwar. The old Shiva Temple built perhaps at the end of the tenth century was completely destroyed by the earthquake of 1819 except the holy place. The sculptures of the leftovers of the Shivalaya are attractive and beautiful. Kera recovered to some amount in the time of Gulamalisha, a descendent of Pir Sadruddin who explained that Ali, the son-in-law of prophet Mohammad was the tenth living form of Vishnu as explained in his book entitled ‘Dasavatar’ or ten incarnations from its damaged conditions. There is a tomb of Gulamalisha in this village. The chief instructor of this division is called Aga Khan.
