Dr. Chanda Shahani D.O.M.S, M.S (Ophthalmology)
Dr Chanda Shahani received her undergraduate medical degree from B J Medical College, Ahmedabad, Gujarat University, the second largest medical college of Asia in December 1996. She did her M S in Ophthalmology from M and J Institute, Ahmedabad, Gujarat University in November 1999. She has worked as a senior resident for 6 months at M and J Institue, Ahmedabad.
After completing her residency, she had undergone a phaco fellowship from J P Shroff Academy of Ophthalmology, a two months fellowship in Medical Retina and Lasers in Management of Diabetic Retinopathy from Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai and a short term fellowship in Glaucoma from the prestigious and world renowed L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad.
She had joined Tolani Eye Hospital in June 2000.During her job tenure at Tolani Hospital, she has perfected her surgical skills in the area of cataract surgery using phacoemulsification technique under topical aneathesia having performed more than 1000 surgeries using phaco technique. Besides, she has performed various other ocular surgeries like trabeculectomy, repair of ocular injuries, squint surgeries, Dacryocystorhinostomies, entropion/ectropion and other minor eye surgeires.
She has contributed a lot towards community services. She has independently as well as in association with various local organisations & NGOs organised various diagnostic as well as surgical ophthalmic camps at regular intervals. She has also actively participated in NPCB (National Programm for Control of Blindness).
Besides the wide ranging clinical exposure Dr Chanda have also acquired administrative skills in hospital management as working environment at the hospital offers complete administrative and clinical freedom to the doctor in charge. She is successfully managing an establishment of 12 people belonging to various cadres, taking important procurement decisions, attending to the Board Meetings of the Tolani Trust and contributing articles in the various in-house publications of the Tolani Group.
Being extremely academic oriented and passionate about recent updates taking place in ophthalmology, she has been regularly attending various ophthalmic conferences as well as CMEs and is also a member of local, state as well as national ophthalmologists’ societies and an active member of Indian Medical Association.
Dr Harsh Prajapati (M.B.B.S)
Dr Harsh Prajapti has done his MBBS from the prestigious B J Medical College, Ahmedabad, Gujarat University. He then pursued his post graduation in Ophthalmology from Nagri Eye hospital, Ahmedabad.
After completing his Diploma in Ophthalmology, he joined Jyoti Eye Hospital, Visnagar, where he worked for an year and mastered his surgical skills in cataract surgery specifically SICS (Small Incision Cataract Surgery). He then underwent a Phaco fellowship at Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul Hospital, Rajkot in June 2006.
He has joined our institute in August 2006. Since his appointment in this hospital, he has been performing various ophthalmic surgeries like phaco, SICS, Trabeculectomy and other minor ophthalmic surgeries like pterygium, ectropion/entropion etc.
He has been regularly participating in various ophthalmic camps being organised by the hospital at periodic intervals.
