About the Department

- Changes made in the courses or programmes during the past five years and the contribution of the faculty to those changes:
The thorough change in the syllabus was suggested after the upsurgence of the Kachchh University in 2003. Along with it the change in paper style was also brought as per the UGC NET pattern. Hindi has been made more Functional than Practical. It has more objective & analytical aspects.
- Trends in success rate and drop out rate of students during the past five years :
Trend in success is almost 95%. Looking to which there is a greater demand of Hindi as the principal subject. The drop out is bare minimal i.e. 5%.
- Learning resources of the departments like library, computers, laboratories and other such resources:
Source of Learning Resources for Hindi Dept. is mainly library, which provides with :- Reference books, Fiction books, 5-magazines, Poetry criticism and A/V CDs.Total Books :- 3658
- Enhancement of the learning resources during the past five years:
During the past five years there has been significant enhancement in learning resources. The number of books, reference books & periodicals has increased. As a new software for detection of books in library has been installed it has made learning more convenient,
- Modern teaching methods in practice other than lecture method :
Assignments, mock situation (simulation), Projects, Presentation by students at regular intervals to enhance their communication skills etc.. Also, activities like play reading etc. are introduced for the verbal enacting of the drama.
- Plan of action
In the next five years, college proposes to have Hindi also as the subsidiary subject because it being the national language should be available for the other students pursuing other principal subjects. We also desire to have the department of post graduate studies having M.A. and various other diploma courses like – Translation, functional correspondence, journalism and as global subject. The immediate plan is to have a national level seminar on the problems faced by students while pursuing Hindi as literature and the other difficulties faced while tutoring psychological novels to students.
Dr. Renu N. Hingorani
Dr. Renu Hingorani is an alumni of Tolani College of Arts & Science. She has the teaching experience of about 20 years. She has four years experience of PG teaching also. She is the Chairman for the Board of Studies for Hindi, KSKV Kachchh University. She has translated Sindhi Poems into Hindi, which were published in `Bhasha-Setu’ & `Aurat’ magazine.
Dr. Sushil G. Dharmani
M.A. (Eng/Hindi), B.Ed., Ph.D
|A University topper in Hindi at MA level, Dr. Dharmani possesses more than 20 years teaching experience. He joined Tolani College of Arts & Science as the Principal on 16th September 2006. Dr. Dharmani is the Dean of Arts Faculty, KSKV Kachchh University since 2006. His several literary articles and papers of are published in the journals as `Hindi Ke Manovaigynik Upaniyaas’, & `Tulsi aur Kabir ke Kavya mai Nari’, `Suraj Ka Saatva ghoda - Eek anushilan’ etc.|
M. D. Siju
|Mr. M. D. Siju joined Tolani College of Arts and Science in 1994. He takes care of the career counseling activities of the college.|

- Achievements of the students :
Meena Sumitra stood first in Kachchh University in the year 2004 whereas Meena Sujata had topped when the college was affiliated with the Gujarat University. Various other students are pursuing their M.A., B.Ed. and Ph.D. Many have already got job as a teacher and the translators in various offices.
